IOSFS Convention 2025

We hope you are well.

The annual IOSFS Convention will be held this year at the in Salzburg, Austria, from July 14th - July 17th, 2025 - in person and online and we would be very happy to welcome you to the convention and an invigorating 4 days at the Orff Institute.     

The theme of the convention is:

THE VOICE: COMMUNICATING, CREATING, CONNECTING

The 2025 Convention brings together practitioners and researchers who will present contributions relating to the voice: the singing voice, the rhythmic voice, the poetic voice,  and tthehe individual voice - all reflected in the Orff-Schulwerk approach. 

Keynotes, presentations, examples from associated schools and institutions, and sessions sharing practical activities will reflect the theme in varied ways. These will include pedagogical frameworks that foster student’s creative input and agency.

The convention also offers attendees spaces to share ideas and experiences with one another. 

How are we challenged to develop vocal possibilities and both individual and collective voices? 

How can an environment be shaped in which voices of all participants can thrive? 

How can an Orff-Schulwerk approach ensure that everyone has a voice?

As in past years, the International Summer Course at the Orff Institute will be held in the week before our convention, from Ju1ly 6-12th. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage in days of practical activities and methodological variety before honing in on the specific topic of the IOSFS convention through presentations and discussions. One important note for you: On the convention website you will notice a link for Accommodations. Please be aware that the inexpensive student housing where many of us stayed in previous years is no longer available. July is the tourist high season in Salzburg and hotels are filling up very quickly.

We are investigating whether students will have a room to offer at a much lower price than the hotels (around €50,00/night). Please check regularly on the website for updates. If you book a hotel, make sure you can cancel up to a month in advance without a fee in case a room becomes available.
